Find Uncanny X-Men (1963-2011) #3 Prepared By Stan Lee Shown In Document
a fun issue. The scene featured in the Onslaught story in thes with Professor X declaring his love for Jean in a thought bubble is here.
Iceman seems pretty heterosexual in this issue, as he competes with Beast and Angel to escort Marvel Girl, Beast's personality is fleshed out a little more: he is shown studying a calculus book, though many students at Xavier's likely study advanced subjects.
Cyclops is characterized as a grim, studious figure, as he remains for much of his history, Funny scene with Iceman and a giraffe from the Blob's carnival, Again, lots of fun here, Recommended for fans of quirky Silver Age stories, Jack Kirby fans, Stan Lee fans, and XMen fans, First appearance of the Blob, The amount of sexism Jean Grey had to put up with, . . No, má to aspoň svetlú stránku konečne som sa dozvedela, čo je zač ten Blob, Okay, I've always known the thing going on between Cyclops and Jean Grey but, . . Professor X is also in love with her That's new,
This time the XMen are trying to recruit a new member known as the Blob, although he is not aware of his mutant powers.
After the Blob realizes he is not a mere Homo Sapien he decides is time to steal the secrets and powers of the XMen.
Xmen take on the villain “The Blob”/
While Beast is getting more slightly more backstory and character building, the XMen as a whole feel as dumbeddown as they can get.
And its not even a question about how powerful they are, but how brainless they seem without Professor X guiding them through every step.
You really mean to tell me that Jean couldnt have come up on her own that she could untie her blindfold with her own powers
Professor X having a crush on Jean is soooo weird In this third edition of uncanny xmen, the teenage mutants face a most unusual adversary the BLOB.
Like his name, blob is a very fat, strong mutant much like a big sack of sand that is difficult to move, but blobs skin is so thick that even bullets cant pierce it.
Blob is thick on skin and thin on brains, as the guy conveniently thought he was just too fat and there is nothing unusual about him.
The novel starts with the usual scene of xmen training hard, when suddenly, professor senses the presence of a mutant, and sends the xmen to town to find him and bring him to the campus.
The xmen were mistakenly too optimistic that every single mutant would want to join them, However things took an ugly turn as blob is no gentleman, having already made a crude pass at Jean Grey,
With an interesting circus v/s xmen fighting sequence, this edition was better than the previous one the Vanisher, Poor Jean had to deal with lots of teasing, This edition also sparks the beginning of a rudimentary love interest between Jean and Scott, though still one sided, as we read Scotts thoughts regarding Jean and his apprehensions regarding his power and its dangers.
I can't ehically agree with some of those things Xmen did in this issue, Blob is a douche but it can't completely justify everything, You just can't force people to join your gang, Also you can't just erase others memories everytime they don't agree with you! O puro suco do surto, Professor Xavier is always on the lookout for new mutants, His mind senses a mutant in a carnival and its a big man called the Blob, He invites him to the mansion and judges his super strength, Once the Professor confirms the Blob as a mutant, he asks him to join the Xmen, The Blob refuses because he realizes that he is stronger than all the current Xmen, The Professor is flabbergasted because no one has refused to join the Xmen before, The Blob goes back to the carnival and takes over and decides to eliminate the Xmen because he knows they'll keep coming after him.
He goes to mansion and the men from the carnival all gather together and capture the Xmen, Professor Xavier saves the day by making the Blob and the carnival men forget that they had ever met the Xmen,
A few things bothered me about this story, There is a lot of blatant sexism and some stuff that can only be described as sexual misconduct against Jean Grey, Also the Professor is in love Jean WTF He basically confesses his love for her in his inner monologue, but tells himself it can't happen because he's in a wheelchair.
Ew. Not cuz he's in a wheelchair, . . he's a PROFESSOR, who owns real estate and she's a kid who was dropped off by her parents to go to school there, I'm glad that never panned out, Lol the XMen had such a hard time defeating him! I love it now why did they make professor x say that XMENThe XMen's First Arc
The political and idealogical subtext present in this comic book presents perhaps the greatest argument for their inclusion in larger literary canon Stan Lee expresses something quite touching, compassionate, and profound in a time when all three were inherently absent from comic books.
With his entry into the foray, he returned the medium to the maximum potential of what it was capable of perhaps it is this intensely skilled craftsmanship to thank for the fact he revitalized a dying medium for decades to come.
. . because this is not purely one of the most profound comic book arcs ever written:
it is quite simply one of the most profound BOOKS ever written.
It's interesting how Stan Lee structure's these character arcs around the metaphor of school each issue starts with a training montage, with the Professor noting a specific flaw in their combat abilities each time.
Then the issue ultimately culminates in the XMen actually having to confront that combat flaw in order to defeat the villain of that issue.
. . and they do, which shows character growth,
In accordance with this structure, each issue of this arc is tailor made for a specific member of
the XMen each issue focusses on the weakness of a specific member, and he/she has to confront that weakness to overcome the villain and grow as a character.
The arc ultimately culminates in each member of the XMen having addressed their own unique weakness, until they are a stronger team as a result.
The strength, however, is not just the personalization separating each XMember, . . it's the leader uniting them, Xavier is a leader that brings his family together on the other hand, Magneto is a leader that tears his family apart, This dynamic of opposing leaders is a great metaphor for opposing philosophies, The XMen fight for the philosophy that all peoples can live together in peace, which brings them together the Brotherhood fight for the philosophy that some people can claim superiority over others, tearing them apart.
It shows the philosophy of war is weaker than the philosophy of peace,
In fact, that's really the theme of this brilliant little series, We cannot "graduate" from our weakness as a country if we do not unite under the notion we can be united, lest we be divided under the notion we should be divided.
You know, I remember a lot of things, What I don't remember is .
One would think I'd remember something like that, huh
And that's basically been the highlight of the issue, Oh, and SCOTT AND JEAN, And the training! I love their training tbh, The story opens with the Xmen training in the schools gymnasium, Today Scott Summers is practicing the speed at which he can blast bean bags that are being launched at him by the Beast, The other boys are involved with some oneupmanship and roughhousing until Professor X calls them to order, Jean's task is to move a block of wood through a series of obstacles as quickly as possible, Their training is interrupted when Professor X detects the presence of another mutant nearby, The circus elements were entertaining, Still some things got on my nerves for example everybody hitting on Jean, having big egos and bragging all the time, Perekrutan yang gagal. The Blob, but the Xmen fighting circus performers was pretty campy and weird, Oh well, you could get away with that back then I guess, Stan Lee born Stanley Martin Lieber was an American writer, editor, creator of comic book superheroes, and the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.
