on Captain Jack and the Pirates

was a fun story, but just not a favorite for us for some reason, I loved seeing the wonderful imagination of the kids playing on the beach, though! Very whimsical and creative.
Adult me loves the illustrations and the vocabulary, I think older kids who are really into pirates might enjoy this adventure and can learn new words like bosun.
Will they choose this book on their own Probably not there are clearly BABIES on the cover.

I wouldn't choose this for the undercrowd and this goes into the "wellmeaning adults who were charmed by this quaint book and who also don't read regularly to young children will not realize that this same book may not appeal to a young audience and will try to hold them captive on their lap and will not understand why this child is squirming to break free" category.
This book perfectly captured the magic of being a child at the seaside, Im sure the illustrations were modeled after the authors home in Devon, but it makes me homesick for Boston.
An adventurous, imaginative story of three boys at the beach and their pirate ship fun, Jack and his friends build a boat of sand and set off for adventure against pirates, a hurricane and a deserted island.
They find the pirates' hideout and booty, Luckily these pirates are nice,
The illustrations show a mix of real and imagined the hurricane seas become a rainy day on a beach disintegrating their ship, the pirate hideout is a beach shack with dessert ready.
Text still follows the pirate adventure, while the illustrations show Jack getting cleaned up by his parents.
My children love these little books, They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them.
Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read shortstories to my children that are clean and respective.
We got this one from the library last March, before they closed their doors, much the same as just about everywhere else.
In anticipation of the libraries opening up again, we've dusted down the books we had borrowed.
I don't think we got to this one first time round, so it was a pleasant surprise.
It's a slight book, but the illustrations are cracking, Bently and Oxenbury collaborate again with the adorable characters from King Jack and the Dragon, This time they have an exciting pirate adventure, A lovely imagination celebration that will work in any beach themed read aloud, The lovely some what whimsical illustrations are always a joy and this story written by Peter Bently is a delightful look at toddlers playing make believe pirates while they are at the beach.
Love stories where children are playing make believe and these three guys are delightful and inclusive of each other through the entire story.
Loved this one. This book is cute. However, I am really bothered by something that I just need to get out there: the characters are three little boys Jack, Zack, and Caspar.
They first make an appearance in Bently's "King Jack and the Dragons, " Here's my issue: Zack is spelled "Zak" in the first book, Why did they change the spelling It makes this librarian crazy, : The boys from King Jack and the Dragon are back in this swashbuckling pirate adventure with pictures by the New York Times bestselling illustrator of Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes

Jack, Zack, and Caspar are building a shipon the beach, out of sand.
When they set sail on their imaginary adventure, Jack spies an enemy pirate ship nearby, They chase after the pirates, but a storm wrecks their ship and sweeps them up on a desert island.
The island isn't totally deserted, thoughtheir pirate enemies are there too, Just as the boys discover the pirates' treasure an array of delicious desserts, the pirates their parents capture them.
But these pirates are friendlythey're willing to share the treasure, and they throw in some ice cream just for good measure!

Perfect for storytime readalouds, this picture book is just right for fans of Three Bears in a Boat, How I Became a Pirate, and Were Going on a Bear Hunt.
This is akin to John Burningham's old charmer sitelinkTime to Get Out of the Bath, Shirley, with three boys and a bear having an imaginary adventure that only they can see.
The Pooh like bear is a nice touch, and the illustrations are by the great and wonderful sitelinkHelen Oxenbury.

A winning package, and a nice antidote to some of the clearlygrownupswritingforthegrownups picture books that have ended up on my desk this week.
to comeyo not keen but I really liked this, The kids yelled “again!” A cute, rhyming tale about three little imaginative boys at the beach and how suddenly their ship made of sand takes them on an adventure.

Ages:

Cleanliness: three little toddlers wear only diapers/trunks and on one you see a butt crack occasionally.
There is a picture of a woman in a bikini,

Like my reviews I also have hundreds of detailed reports that I offer too.
These reports give a complete breakdown of everything in the book, so you'll know just how clean it is or isn't.
I also have Clean Guides downloadable PDFs which enable you to clean up your book before reading it! Visit my website: The Book Radar.
This picture book and its charming illustrations will appeal to adult readers nostalgic for the makebelieve play as children, but there isn't much story or interest to appeal to little ones.
Also, because it's essential to see the illustrations up close to interpret key aspects of the story, this won't work well for a large group readaloud, and I'm not going to use it for storytime.
young boys build a ship on the beach out of sand, sticks, a shirt, a bib, and some buckets.
That gives them sails and cannons, too,

They sail off and run into a pirate ship before a storm the tide hijacks them and they must abandon ship.
Oh, no, they're marooned! They go hunting for the pirates and end up finding lunch and sweets, all thanks to those pirates their parents.

I was a little sad that not all the illustrations are in color,

Otherwise it's a cute story, This is the second book we've read about Jack's imagination, I really liked this one because it showed the boys using their imagination at the beach.
It was a lot of fun to seeing them build their boat and then the adventure they went on.

I like these imagination books that show kids going on adventures just by thinking them up.
Kids these days don't get to use their imagination nearly as much with their Ipads and videogames.
These books are good to jump start ideas for imaginary adventures for kids,

This was a really cute book, I hope to see some more imaginative adventures from Jack, The boys from King Jack and the Dragon are back in this

This book follows three boys imagining that they are pirates at the seaside.
Although the illustrations and rhymes are interesting the clear lack of any female representation within the book sends a negative ideal that girls couldn't be pirates which is something I wouldn't promote! Consejos y actividades:

A fun adventure with super cute pirates.
What an adventurous and adorable read, My three year old identified with the endearing characters who go on a journey through the high seas in their sand castle pirate ship in search of treasure.
What great insight into the mind of a child! Not impressed, Although this book rhymes very well, it's rewarding level is way way above it's target market.
Little kids are not going to know what a yard is, a mainmast or a bosun.
While the adult reader must stop and explain the meaning of every second word, it spoils the flow of the story.
Little kids have very short attention spans and if you keep breaking the flow, they lose interest.
The illustrations are pleasant. The idea is good, how the little kids have a pirate adventure on their sand boat but it lost myyear old within minutes because he just couldn't understand the words and lost the thread.

:
I absolutely adored King Jack and the Dragon.
It is one of the few books I ratedout of, So, discovering Captain Jack and the Pirates had me really excited,
As always, Helen Oxenbury comes out strong with her beautiful illustrations of the group of multicultural characters and I can not find any fault with her skill.

That being said the story fell a bit flat for me, I love that imagination is the primary story generator here just as it was in King Jack.
However, the rhyming scheme seemed a bit off unlocking the original book and had me far too distracted Well, that and the different spelling of Zaks name or is it Zack now.

Overall, this book is a joy to read to children and I highly recommend it for that purpose.
I however, will be sticking with my favorite King Jack and the Dragon,
