are some really great jewelry pieces in this book, Great ideas in all mediums, Not what I expected but it was beautifully illustrated, Has lots of different jewelry designs, but I did not particularly desired any of these designs, Of course everyone has different taste and someone else might like this book better, Great book. Just about everything in this book gets you thinking, I bought this book because there areof my projects are featured in it, :
It is a nice to have book, actually, Many interesting projects, from beginner to advance level to inspire your creativity,
While an improvement from sitelinkIdeas for Creative Reuse see sitelinkmy review in that, out of both Hoopla ebook editions, this one's photographs are much larger, sitelink,Jewelry Inspirations: Beads, Baubles, Dangles, and Chains otherwise suffers from many of the other 1,000 Jewelry Inspirations's exact same problems.
There is still a huge amount of duplication there are sometimes dozens of entries from the same artist, with the same items occasionally appearing in multiple categories, There's also a fair amount of questionable workmanship, but at least fewer of the jewelry pieces here are as completely impractical and downright overtly unlikely as the "ideas" were for "creative reuse" in the aforementioned previous work.
And most annoyingly, again the detailed info on each piece is all clumped in an index at the very end rather than with its associated photo, Several issues were specific to this volume however: Sometimes items were not staged correctly for the picture the point is to see the piece of jewelry, not the photographer's skill in making an artsyfartsy photograph.
Additionally, for no apparent reason whatsoever, items in sets such as a necklace and matching earrings were split up, sometimes by only two or three pages, but not because they logically belonged in different sections, which would have been excusable.
The "JewelryMaking Techniques" section at the end is very skimpy, and serves only to demonstrate via marginallyunclear sketches how to make basic findings ear wires, jump rings, and hook amp eye clasps, and the fundamentals of wrapped and simple
loops, crimping, using clamshell tips, and knotting.
In my opinion, for the rank beginner, these are not the first pieces of information an aspiring jeweler needs, but rather a primer on materials, structure, and connection types, For someone who already has that knowledge, they are unlikely to need a refresher on the techniques included here, and even if they did, the far, far better resource would be YouTube, since these motions are much more easily understood via video than static sketches.
I can only assume the publisher needed to fill up some blank pages,
If you are not actually a jeweler looking for practical inspiration, or you'd like to see some experimental works by a handful of artists not, you may like leafing through this.
.stars. Great book! Lots of variety and inspiration! Inspirational eye candy, This book is a gallery of unique and awesome jewelry, The artists use assorted materials to make these creations, like paper, polymer, vintage, fibres, and fabrics, Nice pictures to study and aspire your creations to, The book provides some very basic howto instructions like making your own hooks and jump rings but this is not an instruction manual, I wish that some of the photos were larger to show more detail, Don't get this book if you are looking for a stepbystep guide, This is more for the person who is already comfortable creating jewelry and art, but would like some visual inspiration, Consider it a jumpingoff point for your own creativity,
This book has given me a ton of ideas of my own and I've enjoyed exploring them to see what sort of creations I can come up with.
