The illustrations are quite different from what I've seen in other books.
It's pretty cool how it's a mix of collage with oil paint, I really liked the cat and the many adventures the cat supposedly went on, I love the way the book was written, It rhymes so beautifully and it was written cleverly with some foreign words mixed in, but it's obvious to know what they mean, Ruthie says:
'Armchair travel' for the little ones, See Europe with this adventurous cat, I would give this astar and my daughter would give it astar, so I'll go with her rating, I like how they can learn a little about the different countries that the cat visits, My daughter loves the book because on every page, there are "real" things mixed in with the illustrations and she likes to find them, Radically textured paint and collage illustrations combine with informative rhyming text as the imagined journeys of a young girls cat become an upbeat introduction to the landmarks and traditions of Europe.

I liked the rhymes of the book, but was a little disappointed that it was not better.
However, I think I am biased as I dont like anything French and this books has in my opinion too many pages based around France, I would have liked to have seen Russia or Scandinavia, THIS CHARMING, CHILDCENTRIC book offers a glimpse into a cats exciting “other” life, In a little girls fantasy, her cat sneaks away, hops a ship, and sails off to Europe! And someday, when he can talk, hell tell her all about the amazing things he discovered there.
. . like whether or not British cats drink tea, . . and how he strutted down the runway in a Paris fashion show, With facts about each place the cat visits included simply in the rhyming text, and in more detail at the end including a map charting his route, this is sure to provide a great introduction to travel.
