There's one monster, though, who likes that Frankenstein is different, Can Frankenstein figure out the identity of his secret valentine And can the other monsters finally accept Frankenstein for the monster that he is
A Valentine for Frankenstein is a cute picturebook about being who you are, and accepting others for who they are.
Frankenstein might be different, and generally teased by others but he does not let that change how he acts or who he is.
He keeps on being the best person he can, his way, I like that it was his differences that made Belcher like him, rather than anything else, I also like that his difference is kindness, which is something all the characters do appreciate once they stop to think about it.
We could all stand for a little more kindness, right The illustrations are bright and colorful with a whimsical feel.
It worked with the story, but was not my favorite style, However, I think it will appeal to many young readers, Interest Level: K
Imagine you are a monster but you don't fit in with the other monsters, This is how Frankenstein feels, He only has two eyes and no tail, some say he almost looks human, plus he's too nice, What kind of monster is he Frankenstein doesn't let the other monsters making fun of him stop him from going to the Valentine's Day party.
He doesn't win the cupcake decorating contest, he doesn't win the bananaslug pie eating contest, and he doesn't win the burping contest, but he always compliments the winners.
While he is dancing he finds a Valentine in his coat pocket Can he find out who it's from or if it was even meant for him Do not miss this precious book that teaches great values, makes the kids laugh, and the illustrations are just fantastic!!

I think that the concept is there and children will appreciate the disgustingness of it all, but the illustrations weren't amazing and the text just didn't seem to flow.
I appreciated the nod to being yourself even when everyone around you doesn't go for it, I did not enjoy the over the top repulsive behavior of the monsters, It is not a book I will be sharing in my classroom, Each page seems to try to be more disgusting than the last, Frankenstein does not fit in with the other monsters, He has TWO eyes, ONE head, NO tail, and he's sort of NICE, He doesn't mind, though, because he's comfortable in his own skin, If someone is mean to him, he just responds with kindness, Finally, someone notices and sends him a secret admirer note, . .
This was really sweet and sent home a really positive message about how to deal with rude people and embrace yourself.
This would make a great discussion starter in the classroom!
I received a copy of this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Final copy via publisher, “The monsters joined together in a ginormous kicking, spitting, burping, gnashing, glittertastic conga line, ” At first I thought the text was going to rhyme since the title does, The text describes imaginative fun activities for a variety of monsters, Computergenerated illustrations are colorful and hold considerable detail for young readers to pore over, Some of them follow the text, others are merely entertaining on their own, Cute but felt a little, . . exhausting to read I was kind of just hoping for the end so I could find out what happened and be done reading.
I love this adorable, fun book, Brilliant DayGlo illustrations, great grossout details, amp a sweet story at its heart, I received this as a free ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review,
Who doesn't love Frankenstein, This book was simply adorable, It has all of the great monsters of our past but in children's book, not so scary drawings, It is colorful and catchy, It enforces the message that it's okay to be different, What a fun read! This is a cute story about a nice monster, I liked how it ended with the other monsters realizing that Frankenstein was still a monster and treated him better, even though he looked different and acted different.
The illustrations were done very well, This would be a great story to read around Halloween, If your little one is fascinated by all things gross, slimy and stinky, this is the book for them! Although, it's rather sweet in the end, a good valentine's day read, or a gentle nudge to a monster who could be a little less montery.

BUYING ADVISORY: ELKADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Frankenstein is a bit different from the other monsters aroundhe's a pretty nice guy and goes out of his way to be kind.
He is at first somewhat mocked for his behavior at the annual Valentine's monster dance, but when Smellabella, the winner of the burping contest, pays him special attention, the other monsters start to recognize and appreciate Frankenstein's kindness.
Even though he's a bit different, Frankenstein is an acceptable monster, too!
This was definitely an unexpected tale for a title with "Valentine" in its name, but one I found really fun.
There is enough gross monster content to keep kids happy and a nice message to keep adults happy, too! I loved the illustrations and overall don't have much to complain about.
The only reason I don't make this an ESSENTIAL pick is simply that while its all nice and fun, there is nothing extraordinary about the book that made it super memorable or something I was eager to read again.

sitelink blogspot. com/ A good story, though it is a bit redundant, Coming soon So fun, so yuck, so smelly, and completely awesome, The bright vibrant colors bring Frankenstein and his monster friends to life, And when the nice guy gets a valentine, the quest begins to find his true love, A great valentines story for any time of the year, LOL! Stickysweet Valentine books, move over for this celebration of a messy, icky monster VDay, Although the text seemed too dense and frenetic, the illustrations were a real gem, and will no doubt please kids who are tired of the saccharine aspects of the holiday.
I think most kids would enjoy the silly things the monsters do, Good for halloween or valentine's day themed story times,
I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, Not a great one for storytime, but I could see it winning over a group ofrd graders during library time.
Not my favorite with all the monster talk and examples throughout, but cute for what it is, Frankenstein goes to a Valentines dance, competes in the games, is made fun of since he isn't monster enough, but makes friends at the end and is accepted for who he is.
A decent addition to the small genre of Valentines Day picture books,
A cute story on how to stay true to who you are,
Appropriately colorful illustrations, I liked that Frank's valentine had a streak in her hair reminiscent of Elsa Lanchester's, My grandson loved this book, He loved
the goo, the burps, the smells and the wonderful bright, gross looking monsters, Poor Frankenstein was teased because he was nice, but the monsters never turned down his help, When he receives a valentine he has to use his powers of deduction to figure out who his secret valentine is.
When the other monsters realize that he is still a monster and is worthy of being liked, they realize he is a good guy who helped so many of them and they all become friends.
I wish life were that simple, but the message of being nice pays off in the end, and looking for the good in people as well as it is okay to be different are all subtly presented in this story.
We had a discussion when we finished reading and I was so happy to see that he got the message as well as loving this bright and colourful story.
It might be about Valentine's Day, but could be read any time of year, The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley,
