was a good book, I think it's more for people who are in their thirties and over though, The heroine worked for the heroes grandfather as a nurse when the hero showed up and got to know her after a bit of time they became physically attracted to each other.
Eventually they slept together and for some unknown reason, the heroine forgot about her wonky birth control the month before and ended up pregnant.
When the hero found out he married her, Now it's time for them to face up to the past and sort out everything that happened to them before they came into ea others lives but it's never as simple as that, is it

The book was kind of unrealistic.
Some of the things that happened made me cringe and wonder what the heck the author was thinking but at last I finished it and say overall it's okay.
After her recent heartbreak, all Maura Donovan wanted was to pick up the pieces of her life, Taking a position as nurse to an elderly rancher seemed a perfect temporary tonic, Then she met his grandson,

His rugged masculinity mesmerized her, His passion branded her. Quint Cantrell was an impossible man to resist, But he was six years youngerand now she was having his baby, This review is filled with spoilers and rants for those of you who would rather know what you're getting into with the very weak characters who lack confidence, self worth, self esteem etc and a man who has allowed a bad experience with a woman during and right after high school to mold and shape his pathetic life.
Cannot recommend it.

I read this book today and it was a disappointment for me,

Maura Donovan is recovering from a horrible divorce, Not only did she lose her husband to infidelity but she lost her selfrespect and selfesteem along with it, Now she's just a frightened little lamb scared to death of life,

That is not a good sign for this reader, I have a hard time with women who appear to be weak and think because a marriage didn't go well and the husband divorced her that she is somehow worthless, deficient, shameful, unworthy of love.
She must have been a bad wife because he cheated on her their whole marriage, She must have been lacking in the sack, She She She!!! WTH! Could she not see that his infidelity was his fault, his choice, his sin against her and their marriage Nope, she internalizes everything.
At one point she asks the hero, 'What would you want with a girl like me' This theme was drug along kicking and screaming throughout the book.
She was just so down on herself that it was pathetic, Honestly, what man is attracted to a woman who acts scared to death of life, terrified of men and runs and hides instead of dealing with a situation.
Not to mention no self confidence or self esteem whatsoever I know most women want those things in a man, They want to view him as strong, confident etc and I know many men want the same in a woman, One who is confident, selfassured, But this woman was a sad, pathetic mess,

Then there is our illustrious hero Quint Cantrell AKA Mr, ChickenS!t. Good grief. Talk about frustrating. He dated a gal in high school nowI think and afterwards for a total of three or four years, A couple places in the book said four years then towards the end he said three years, Apparently he was nuts about this girl and couldn't or wouldn't see through her facade to her real nasty self, He began catching her in lies, Red Flag Quint! He should have said Adios after catching her but no he keeps hanging on because she said she lied because she loved him.
Then not long after she runs off with a wealthy man, That happened a good six or seven years ago and he still thinks about it wayway too much, He has let it shape his entire life, I felt it interfered with the storyline, drew my attention off the main characters and made me think less of him that he would have put up with such behavior.
He says he was humiliated in front of the whole town by her leaving him and six or seven years later he still avoids going to town.
Who really gives a hoot what they all think, so he becomes a bit of a hermit, Doesn't socialize or go out, . . well maybe for a hook up every now and then to relieve the sexual tension but that's all, Then apparently after the no good girlfriend left him he dated a couple of gold diggers, one who tried to convince him to build a mansion for them and the other to purchase a private island so they could laze their life away there together.
Now he was totally against love, commitment, marriage, and children because every woman would do to him what these women did, Right! He gave no one a chance, He still wasn't over it and his life had become nothing but work,

When Quinn and Maura have a night together she ends up pregnant, . . a glitch with her birth control pills, Quinn immediately demands they get married, DEMANDS! I say. He had already told her he would absolutely never love again, commit, settle down and marry, nor would he ever want a child.
So here is Maura so hurt because she doesn't want a marriage without love but there is gossip in the town so she gives in to his demands.
He makes it crystal clear to her that it's only for the baby's sake and there would be no love, The child was his responsibility, his duty! Way to woo the woman Quint! You are such a stud, The wedding was great.

The honeymoon sublime but as soon as they return home and he thinks he feels love for her it all changes almost immediately and she seldom sees him anymore.
He basically has nothing to do with her but sex whenever he decides he wants it, He leaves before she arises and most nights she's in bed when he gets in, He makes no time for her at all and she's supposed to be okay with that, She is heartbroken but each of them are too scared or weary of telling the other how thy feel,

I will be quite honest and tell you that I never warmed up to the hero and wasn't too crazy about the heroine.
I struggled throughout with their misconceptions of love and commitment, the way they viewed themselves and how skewed their thinking was, These were two grown adults but had the maturity and forethought of young teens,
