loved this book so much!!! Cute happy ever after but with the added topic of illiteracy Loved it
A truly great book, A hero who was not perfect, who was flawed in his own eyes, A heroine who was just the same and they both saw the best in each other, thumbs up This is a clean romance with no sex or smut,
So clearly NOT for me,
There should be a warning since categorizing it as harlequine might be confusing to some,
No rating. I just finished this book, I very much enjoyed reading it,.Grade B/B
This was overall a very enjoyable book with more depth than I expected, The characters grow and develop during the story, and there isn't a pat answer to every issue brought up, I have a friend whose son had the same reading impairment mentioned in the book, and the information here was very interesting and seemed accurate, This is truly a sweet story about two people who have struggled with selfimage for their entire lives, They are opposite from one another, or so Nick
thinks, When one or the other gets their back up, they are completely misreading the other, It takes them a while to figure it out, but eventually, they do, The Tulanes are a closeknit family that gives you warm fuzzies, This is a fun series, A sweet and thoughtful story with compelling characters and an engaging premise, More.as sometimes I didn't connect with the writing, but overall I really enjoyed and appreciated the story, After finishing the last page, the first thing I thought was: ''So damn good story'', I loved this book. The characters have clear and open thought towards the reader and the moral was just lovely and well fitting for nowadays girlsissues, It tells about a young woman a teacher who just came out of a disaster divorce and gained so much weight this was because of the stress, but she has been overweight her entire life.
Her Ex wouldn't leave her alone and Jennifer becomes really desperate, When a friend of hers comes to know that the super hot gymowner Nick Tulane is in need of a tutor for his son for the summer, she managed to fix a deal with him for her: Jennifir will tutor his son and in exchange Nick will become her personal trainer and in the open her''guy friend''.
Both had been secretly crushing on each other, but both think they aren't good enough for the other: Jennifer doesn't see it happening in a million years that a good looking and perfect muscled man like Nick falls for a ''fat and notincontroloverhereating'' girl Nick doesn't believe that a smart and a college educated woman like Jennifer will ever fall for a high school dropout.
But Nick's secret is bigger than that, Not only didn't Jennefir know about his dropout and the main reason for his family issues, but also didn't she know that he can't read, which was the reason for his dropout.
He never told anybody, not even his family knew the reason for his dropout They have always assumed that Nick wasn't vut out for school, but when he discovers that his son might have the same problem and Jennifer finds out with suspicions he has no other choice than to tell her.
She decides to help him and does research about their reading problem, Every thing goed well and perfect and they find out that they have a sort dyslectic disease, She finds the perfect solution and both are able to read better,
But when Nick finds out that Jennifer used them as ''guinea pigs'' for her essay for college he decides to end things, He was so angry and afraid that everyone would know about it and that his son will face the same social problems as he had when he decided to drop out from high school.
Jennifer decides to leave a recording of her essay for him because hearing was easier than reading for him, obviously before she leaves for her vacation for which she had to drop a few pounds in the first place.
When he heard it all, all he wanted was her back, He was mistaken in her intensions and he had forgive her, He dicides to tell his family about his secret and they helped him to get a flight to Jennifer, And everything comes to a happy ending!
The Story was Great But, . .
This is a sweet romance about Nick, a guy struggling to be his best and support his son and a woman, Jenn, with little self worth trying to find her inner strength.
Both characters grow and learn about themselves so they can grow their love for each other, Great story!
But here are my issues, . .
First, when you marry, you become husband and wife not man and wife, Just a pet peeve of mine,
Second, Jenn is a teacher going to school to work further her education, But she acts very unprofessional when she uses her actions with Nick and his son to further her education without their permission, Did not make her look like much of a professional educator but more like a selfish bamp, Mills amp Boon Blush series brings you moving, truetolife romancesNick Tulane ordinarily won't admit weakness in himself or in those he loves, But when he learns his son is about to fail in school, the single father is desperate to find a tutor, And Jennifer Rose is perfect,
In fact, Jen might be too perfect, Nick's starting to fall for the attractive teacher, and he can't let that happen, Because opening up to Jen means sharing the secret that has always made him feel like an outsider in his own family, Still, with his son showing signs of following in his footsteps, Nick can't keep the truth hidden, But once she knows, will Jen accept him weakness and all
DNF at
I loved the story, but I didn't like Jennifer enough to continue reading.
I don't mind insecure heroines at all, but I can't stand the ones that constantly have to be pushed, convinced and encouraged,
I might come back to it later and give it another chance, though, I went in expecting onlyormaybe not too many considering it's a Harlequin Super Romance but came out with a blazingstars, I shouldn't be surprised really since it was written by Kay Stockham, I just wanna say that this was wonderful read, I had a great time,
Nick and Jenn each had their own insecurities and quite sceptical that they could be more than friends at all, Nick, a high school dropout felt that he couldn't measured to Jenn a teacher, While Jenn could never imagine why a hot guy like Nick would even look at her, an overweight girl, It was pretty hilarious at first but things spiralled into interesting dramas when the Tulane family got involved,
And I couldn't believe that I cried in this book also, Seems that I can't help myself from shedding a few tears in every KS's book, Anyway this one belongs in my lovvit shelf,
On to Nick's twin brother, Luke's book
sitelink next, Entertaining
Very entertaining with twists and a mystery to be solved by a teacher, Low selfesteem and secrets from the past with romance thrown in for good measure! Jennifer is recently divorced and lets just say her ex was an ass, she has issues, mainly weight issues, along with a few emotional scars that shes never been able to leave behind.
Nick a successful business man has a few issues of his own, but he needs help for his son, So they barter, Jennifer will tutor his son in exchange for his help at the gym,
I was hooked from the first chapter, I loved the characters. Nicks insecurities and his fear for his son was so touching and heartfelt, Jenns love for what she does and how she wants to help the little boy and his dad, But it was her spunk that kept me going, Loved her!
Looking beyond the outside
This couple starts out as two people who want to help each other, It seems innocent enough, but as Jenn and Nick get to know each other better and get emotionally involved, they realize this is more than it first appears,
This is a story of how accepting yourself is the first part in bettering yourself, And trusting someone can be hard after youve been hurt, but is entirely possible,
Nice continuation of this series of the Tulane brothers, Worth the read. er: EmmaRae
Blurb: They need help, . . fast.
Nick Tulane ordinarily won't admit weaknessin himself or in those he loves, But when he learns his son is about to fail in school, the single father is desperate to find a tutor, And Jennifer Rose is perfect,
In fact, Jen might be too perfect, Nick's starting to fall for the attractive teacher, and he can't let that happen, Because opening up to Jen means sharing the secret that has always made him feel like an outsider in his own family, Still, with his son showing signs of following in his footsteps, Nick can't keep the truth hidden, But once she knows, will Jen accept him, . . weakness and all
: I absolutely adored this book, I didn't know it was book two of a series, but when I finished at aroundam, by:, I had gotten out of bed and purchased the rest of the series.
When the book opens we find single father Nick squirming in a kiddiesize chair in a parentteacher conference, I was immediately drawn to father and son trying to see eyetoeye, and couldn't put the book down, He's a successful, gorgeous hunk, but he's estranged from his family and trying to raise a child on his own, . . not easy under the best circumstances,
You can't imagine why this guy might feel defensive and insecure and I'm not going to tell you, either, He's attracted to Jen the minute he lays eyes on her in the bar, and he doesn't understand why she doesn't have more confidence in herself and her body, But Jen's just been rocked by a nasty divorce, and she decides to take the summer to shape up, If losing weight will make her feel better, how could Nick refuse to get up close and personal with her as her personal trainer at his gym And maybe Jen can figure out why his son is struggling in school, and he won't have to watch his child follow in his rocky footsteps.
But then she starts getting to him, chipping at his walls and his carefully ordered life, He doesn't want anyone to get to close, because she might not like what she finds, Jen's more comfortable around her second graders, and doesn't quite know what to do with Nick, She knows what she'd like to do, but she can't imagine Nick being interested in her,
All the characters in this book are beautifully developed, The chemistry between Nick and Jen is obvious, but it's not overly erotic so anyone will enjoy it, You will laugh and cry and be sad when the story ends, The book lives up to the SuperRomance brand, and we meet the characters in Kay's other books as Nick and his family try to mend fences, I'd recommend reading Another Man's Baby Bookfirst, but this is my favorite,.stars
Jenn and Nick are classic opposites attract, She is a smart overweight schoolteacher and he was a high school dropout who now is a successful businessman and gym owner,
Jenn has super low selfesteem since her divorce and a poor body image too, Nick is a single father whoseyear old son is doing poorly in school, Worried his son will struggle like he did he looks for someone to help him over the Summer break, Through a friend, Nick makes a deal with Jenn for tuition in return for his help getting her into shape for her dream holiday at the end of Summer vacation.
This was an easy read, Jenn's constant obsessing over her weight did get a bit annoying, but I understand that was her motivation for initially agreeing to the deal, I thought it was a little convenient that the hero had a thing for voluptuous pinup girls, but it helped make the storyline a bit more believable,
This book does not contain descriptive love scenes, What I initially thought would be a fun and quick read quickly turned into so much more and I loved every second of it,
Nick is the black sheep of his very sucessful family due to things that are later revealed in the book I'm obviously not going to spoil that, but when his son struggles at school, Nick knows that he must do everything he can to help him.
Enters Jennifer and a bargain between the two of them, Jennifer, recently divorced, has her own ghosts, but along the way she not only helps Nick and his son, the two of them help her in more ways than one.
This story was so heartbreaking, sweet and warm, And yes, while I do prefer books with more explicit "sexy times" this book was perfect and such a good read,
I can't wait to dive into the rest of the series,.Contemporary romance is not my favorite genre but it's books like these that convince me to read more of them,
What I liked about this book were:
Hero has a disability
Hero is not a "professional", billionaire, or tough alpha although he does come from a wealthy family
Hero is somewhat insecure
Heroine is not thin and dropdead gorgeous
Hero's Dr.
brother who sounds more than interesting :
What I did not like about this book:
Heroine makes me realize I am more inclined to carry a grudge :P
Propup son but it is not as obvious due to the arrangement the hero and heroine have with each other
The slimy ex who did seemed inexplicably to me possessive of his exwife
Most of all: It seemed obvious to me, based on what the heroine told the hero, that she was selfconscious about her own appearance, yet the hero kept thinking that the heroine shies away due to his past.
This made me want to bang my or the hero's head against a wall,
This is the second in the Tulane series and I enjoyed this one as well, This time we have Nick Tulane, who we know from the previous book as being a highschool dropout, single father and a owner of several business's and being kind of estranged from his family.
Nick finds out that his son has been forging signatures and is in academic trouble, all of this reminds Nick of how poor he was at studies and he doesn't want his son to go through the same pain or make him an object of ridicule so he wants to find a summer tutor.
The heroine Jen has finally decided to take control of her life, for years she put her husband through med school and then he belittled her and dumped her, so she took comfort in food, at the end of her school term she decides to be herself and drunk, makes her friend let her agree not only to tutor Nick's son but also become a member at his gym and let him be her guy friend.
The next day she tries to back out but Nick doesn't let her, so with a lot of feet dragging she goes to the gym, Jen has a lot of body issues and even selfesteem issues and she acknowledges them to Nick, who is a great guy, he tries to make her see she is worthy and doesn't need to be a size zero instead she needs to be healthy.
They both have family problems in common and Nick fears that once she learns about his lack of education credentials she will back off, which she doesn't instead she makes him see how good he is and successful.
She also helps his son,
I found their relationship and how it gradually progressed wonderful, .
