must say, being a Lilith really is tiring, Sylvie gets all the bullets and gory trying to stay low without success, Yet, eventually, she overcomes all those huge powers like gods making her do things just because they are gods,
I like how her sister gets more time in this book and they bicker like most sisters do, Yet, they love one another in their own way, The premise: ganked from BN, com: Sylvie Lightner is a P, I. specializing in the unusualin a world where magic is real, and Hell is just around the corner,

Now, with death and disaster on the horizon, even if Sylvie wins, things will never be the same, . .
My Rating: Couldn't Put It Down
There's a part of me that's sad this is the last installment.
I was ambivalent about the first book, but the second and third books were solidly good reads, This last one I had a hard time putting down, I barely took many notes because I was so engaged with it, as the various disparate elements of the story come together in a super satisfying way.
This chapter in Sylvie's life is over, and while there's no doubt Sylvie's going to have many more adventures, while there's no doubt her new notoriety could provide for some fantastic friction, I'm glad to leave the series where it ended.
It's a great ending.
It's hard to keep talking about it too, when I'm not spoiling the bejeezus out of anything, Suffice to say that Benedict's won me over with this series, and I hope to reread it one day when rereading is a real possibility for me.
I look forward to seeing what else Benedict has to offer in the future under this pen name or her real name, Lane Robins, but in the meantime, there's something satisfying about finishing a series and relishing a good end.
For those readers who want a dark, urban fantasy that's more horror than romance but don't mind a smidgen of, well, not romance, but sex with a solid investigate bent, where the supernatural are monsters to freak out over instead of fall in love with, I'd definitely recommend you give this series a try.
Sylvie's a great heroine once you get past her initial, bitchy facade, especially once you realize she'll do anything for those she loves,
Spoilers, yay or nay: Nay, Originally I thought I'd be chatting about spoilers, but once I started writing the review, I decided there's no real discussion in that, especially with this being a last book.
So unless you're in a hurry and if you are, skip to "My Rating" feel free to read the full review, which can be found at my blog.

sitelinkREVIEW: Lyn Benedict's LIES amp OMENS
Happy Reading! Not a bad stopping point, if that's how it ends up.
Lots of things came to a head in this book, and the way it ends makes it equally possible that this is the end of the story or just the conclusion of the first arc.
Given that the book was published over a year and a half ago, I am inclined to believe the former and that's okay, Most of the loose ends got resolved, and the last chapter works in either case as an epilogue or a teaser, Personally, I think trying to continue the series would probably be a bad thing, Sylvie works best in a certain kind of setting, and she no longer lives there, I understand there may be a spinoff book about what the Ghoul's been up to, and that's cool, but Sylvie just wouldn't be the same without having to deal with a world that.
. . well, I can't say more than that without giving away the big spoiler,
Over all, the series was a solid read, Nicely chaotic when it needed to be, and it kept things from getting comfortable, Now that Sylvie shows signs of settling down, it's probably best that we let her do just that, Great. Hope the new one is due out in April ', Sylvie Lightner is a P, I. specializing in the unusualin a world where magic is real, and Hell is just around the corner,
After escaping secret government cells and destroying a Miami landmark, Sylvies trying to lay lowsomething that gets easier when a magical force starts taking out her enemies.
But these magical attacks are a risk to bystanders, and Sylvie cant let that slide,
When the war between the government and the magical world threatens the three people closest to herher assistant, her sister, and her loverSylvie has no choice but to get involved with hidden powers bent on shaping the world to their liking.
Now, with death and disaster on the horizon, even if Sylvie wins, things will never be the same, . . The Shadow Inquiries series continued with plenty of action, frustrating romance and otherworldly type creatures aplenty, Sylvie once again has to save humanity from the magical world and those hell bent on destroying the ISI with no care who falls into their path.
Sylvie is kick ass, loyal and full of surprises, We continue to get a peek into what being the New Lilith entails for Sylvie while continuing to keep us and her for that matter in the dark.
We get a hot and sexy shower reunion scene between Sylvie and Demalion, I'm really not sure what my feelings are towards Marah, I honestly can not tell what her motives are and who's side she is on, Erinya brings lots of excitement to the series but she is a bit out of control now that she is a god and I cant imagine what she will do next or how Sylvie will deal with it.
I really liked how LIES amp OMENS ended, It felt like all the key players are finally on the same side in the same fight, There is a great lead up to bookworked in, I wont be missing a release in this series anytime soon, Overall the story showed amazing promise, However some parts were long winded which in turn left me bored for a few paragraphs or a chapter, I thought it was a great story, the one thing I'm left with wondering is, is this the end of the series In a way, it's a perfect ending.
It could either be the finale of the series or it could go on creating more installments, Either way, really good writing, I have enjoyed reading all Lyn Benedict's installments in this series! Lies amp Omens is the fourth book in the Shadows Inquiries series by Lyn Benedict and an ACE Urban Fantasy.
Blurb:

Now, with death and disaster on the horizon, even if Sylvie wins, things will never be the same, . .
My thoughts:
Sylvie Lightner is just trying to make a living and stay alive in the process, Named the new Lilith, Sylvie has powers shes never dreamed of and has no idea how to access most of them,
Magical beings are coming out of the proverbial closet and attacking the branch of the government that would like nothing more than to catch them and slice them open to see how they tick.
Though there is no love lost between Sylvie and those government officials innocent bystanders are being harmed Sylvie feels honor bound to stop the attacks,
With a Fury turned demigod popping in at the most inconvenient of times and a psycho assassin wanting to take over the very government that is being attacked to say that things are a bit stressful is an understatement.
If that werent enough Sylvie is trying to find a witch to lift a curse from a client, keep her own sister safe and her lover out of trouble.
. . things are going from bad to worse,
I completely enjoyed Lies amp Omens Sylvie is one tough lady,
I give Lies amp Omensout ofstars,

. . And this is the last book of the series everything tied up pretty well at the end, It was such a treat to be back in the Shadow Inquiries world, and LIES AND OMENS doesnt waste a single page before ramping up the action.
Almost invisibly, Benedict intertwined gentle reminders about Sylvies past without slowing down the current events one bit, By the time Sylvie was clinched in what is the absolute best shower scene Ive ever read, I knew I was going to gulp this book down in one sitting and I was right.
Above and beyond a killer first act, the entire book is infused with Benedict's knack for appealing darkness, None of the loose ends from prior books are swept under the rug, but these difficult, heartwrenching relationships are saved from any hint of drama by Sylvies cleareyed emotional bravery.
In general, I do not like angry characters, yet Sylvies brand of rage is transmuted into something gorgeous, Her intransigence becomes more and more important as the world convulses around her and the line between “friend” and “monster” blurs, Whether its something as small as mentioning the bitter taste of soap in a sex scene or the lethal consequences of a Furys new godhood, Benedict brings a gritty reality to her urban fantasy that I find absolutely compelling.
Despite the shotgun start, LIES AND OMENS did have a lull in the action two thirds of the way through, However, that slight pause soon swept away to a climactic finish, Benedict managed a difficult feat for a midseries ending, offering a resolution that was satisfying for her characters while still lighting the fuse on fantastic possibilities for future books.
LIES AND OMENS wason my Topforlist, and as quickly as Ive finished
it, Im already penciling in a spot for Shadow Inquirieson this years new list.
