I find my self caught up in this series, read this the third in one sitting, Thanks for days off when a person can just check out with a good book, I. Will write a better review at the end of the series, Book four here I come, Originally reviewed for Tea and Book,
In book three on her Moon Series, Lisa Kessler take a us back to Reno and the wolf pack daring to thrive even when the powerful Nero organization is determined to ciem or destroy them.
This time it's Nadya's turn, In Hunter's Moon, an evil, deranged werewolf bit her because he knew it would hurt Sasha, her sister, Bad enough that the bite turned her but he had been created by Nero and was not a natural wolf, consequently he had defects and was guaranteed to die.
By turning Nadya a he doomed her to the same fate,
Nadya had lived a simple life, her only living family, her older sister, When Sasha's job put Nadya's life in danger she was introduced into a wonderful new world, When she was bit it may have changed her life, whatever was left if it, forever but Nadya was grateful to have been allowed to be a part of their world.
And she was determined to enjoy the life she had left, But when she met her mate her focused changed, Now she was determined to live, willing to even trust a doctor from the very organization from that doomed her,
Gareth had lived his life as part of the pack but when his parents died, he started closing himself off, When his twin brother was killed he completely shut down, Planning to leave and become a lone wolf everything changed when he realized that Nadya was his mate, His Mate, doomed to die, how much more was fate going to throw at him And could he take it
Talk about difficult choices.
What a fabulous story. The focus in thus entire story is how Nadya and Gareth handle each new obstacle, How things that could pull them apart, bring them together, It's a powerful story. The secondary characters and overall story arc work brilliantly to enhance their trials and triumphs,
Once again, Lisa chose to write this story in alternating first person, At times it was distracting but once I was able to figure out the flow, I was able to settle in and appreciate the story,
I am totally looking forward to what's next in thus most excellent series,

Blood Moon by Lisa Kessler
Bookof the Moon series, Paranormal shifter romance. Best read as part of the series,
Nadya was bitten by a genetically altered wolf shifter, Her future is not bright, Gareth keeps his emotions buttoned up, Helping Nadya deal with her new wolf shifter ability though has him emotionally entangled and he will do whatever he can to help her stay alive.
Knowing her days are limited before she turns into a rabid killer is stressful, The Nero Organization is closely following the science and changes that Nadya is experiencing,
Nadya is a strong heroine facing her future with positivity and courage, Gareth was a jerk for running away when he found his mate, That is the beginning and obviously he comes back but it was hard to forgive him,
It was nice revisiting the couples for the previous stories, This series is keeping the family close,
I found endearing, the young twins of Adam first book being in this story, giggling and healthy and enjoying their time with their babysitters,
Steamy and suspense filled, ed by: sitelinkRabid Reads,
BLOOD MOON had a lot going for it including terrific characters, innovative boinking, and a sweet romance, however it did have one significant flaw that was impossible to overlook: the rushed story.
Gareths action/reaction turnaround time was too quick, and the mythology was glossed over which made Nadya amp Gareths tale difficult to buy into, and as a result their HEA came off as uninspired.
Im sad that I didnt enjoy this novel as much as Id hoped because Kessler wrote it as a tribute of sorts to her mothers recovery from cancer, and that resonated with me, I just wish I could say the same about the book.
I enjoyed reading from the heroines POV quite a bit Dalcas positive attitude and courage were remarkable given her looming expiration date, Instead of dwelling on her
impending doom, shes decided to live in the moment, and to make every second count, For the most part, Nadya stayed true to her course, although she did hit a couple of emotional hurdles which was to be expected, but that only further endeared her to me.
It also made her mate bond with Gareth easier to accept, and justified the rapid progression of their relationship, I was happy that she found someone to spend her final days with who would hold her hand through it all,
My issue with this novel was the male protagonists POV the moment he discovered that Dalca was his one true match, he ran for the hills.
I was ok with that seeing how his entire family was lost to him, and he didnt think hed be able to survive another death, However, he came to his senses entirely too swiftly in my opinion, I wanted to witness more of Gareths internal struggle, Then, he discovered that he has a rare ability, visits his godmother to gain some insight, and what should have been a lengthy dialogue was dumbed down to a few sentences.
Two missed opportunities for character and world development that were very noticeable,
The plot could have used more oomph as well it was extremely linear with no curves or surprises to speak of, except for maybe the ending, and even it was foreseeable.
Also, there were a lot of sex scenes some of them were creative, Ill give the author that, but after a while they just screamed filler.
I wasnt a big fan of Jason either because a seemingly brilliant doctor was reduced to instigating romantic drama via a mock love triangle, I did like that we got to reconnect with the two previous couples in this series, and getting to attend Sasha amp Arens wedding was a nice perk, their twins were cute too.
BLOOD MOON was a respectable Paranormal Romance, but nothing to howl at, I finally had the opportunity to read the first two books in the Moon series by Lisa Kessler as the third book was coming out and I was asked to review the book by the publisher, Entangled.
Since I read these books one after the other and I have not written a review for either of the previous two books, I wanted to make this review partly about what makes this such a fantastic series and then I will tell you why I enjoyed Gareth amp Nadyas book so much and why, in my opinion, this series will continue to get better with each book.
I read all three books within the timeframe of a little more than three weeks which is actually my favorite way to read a series.
When you read them in order one after the other, the authors vision for the characters is seen to clearly evolve from book to book, I also enjoy when you see secondary characters from one book become the primary couple in another in the series, For myself, I find it very interesting to assess these secondary characters and wonder who ends up with who What kind of crazy or funny or please no heartbreaking scenes are going to be created by the issues we learn each character is battling as we get to know them What type of super chaotic antics will ensue from the choices these characters make as they try to make a life with their mates
The Moon series by Lisa Kessler has all the necessary qualities of a great romance series.
It has a few running themes that each book stays true to even as it centers on the chosen couple, We are witness to the evolution of these unattached males as they discover their mates and begin the journey to claim them and build a life together.
We get to know these young women who have stepped into a whole new world and are desperately trying to find their place in it, We sigh and smile as this couple stop fighting each other and give into the love they feel, becoming a strong unified heart, And of course this getting to know each other time always involves battling outside forces trying to keep them apart or disrupt or even destroy the lives they are building.
This life building runs alongside the ideas of personal responsibility and independence, I know that you think they contradict each other but they do not in these books because while each person is responsible for their own lives and is free to make their own choices and have their own opinions, when it comes down to it you stand together.
You may fundamentally disagree with a choice someone else has made or vehemently oppose something they support, but that has no bearing on being PACK, The concept of PACK is the foundation that these books are built on and with each new book we discover more of what PACK really means.
Its bigger than family and stronger than a hug and wider than a smile and as protective as, well, as a wolf! PACK means you belong here and this is where you stay no matter what so we ALL can protect and ALL can fight for you and ALL can bleed amp heal along with you.
Its about care and compassion and showing each other that no matter the little, day to day fights or squabbles or disagreements, when it comes right down to it we stand together.
United. Us against anyone who dares challenge one of us because we stand together ALWAYS,
Blood Moon was about Gareth amp Nadya and their struggles to find their way to each other and to stay together forever, Nadya was bitten by a deranged, genetically mutated werewolf at the end of the second book in the series, Unfortunately this bite begins a countdown to death for Nadya and modern medical science cannot do anything about it, For his part, Gareth has suffered a lot of loss in his life and as a consequence he has walled himself up inside, Even worse, he has begun to distance himself from the Pack since we first met him in book, Neither of these two had any reason to look for the love of a mate but from the moment they touched it was there, between them.
Burning like a bonfire and refusing to be ignored or go away,
The books in this series are all about the challenges that the mate pair faces in order to prove to themselves, their PACK and the universe at large that they do deserve this amazing person and this chance at happiness that has been given to them.
Each person in the relationship will grow amp change ampslowly become the person they were meant to be strong, compassionate, genuine, amazing and capable of carrying their mate when life causes him/her to stumble.
This is absolutely a series that gets better with each new book, as we get to know these amazing men, who happen to be wolves and their jaguar or mostly human mates.
The other half of each ones soul, .
