Gather A Very Ruby Christmas (Bound And Determined, #4.5) Presented By Lavinia Kent Contained In Copy
short read. Love this series. One more to go, I think, I do miss this author's historical stories haven't seen anything new, Very enjoyable and very sexy,Awesome Read!
A Very Ruby Christmas, was an incredibly sexy and heartwarming read! It was like a culmination of all the wonderfully written storylines within the Bound and Determined series.
. . including Rubys and Captain Derek Price, We are also left with the possibility of future reads with the introduction of Jasmine and the lovely and precious Hope, I have adored Lavinia Kent's every book in her Bound and Determined series, "A Very Ruby Christmas," was a wonderful peek into Ruby and Derek and a surprise peek into a couple of other lead couples from other books.
Ruby is ready to marry Derek and sell the brother, but she isn't quite ready enough, She continues to search for a buyer, never finding exactly the right person to take over the business she has built, Ruby knows Derek is losing his patience and is a little worried about it,
Enter Ruby's legitimate and very pregnant halfsister, Ruby was shocked to find her on her doorstep, obviously pregnant and their father very unhappy about the situation,
Ruby wants to help her sister, marry Derek and make a life with him, Can she do all of that Can she make it work
Highly recommended, lots of hotness and steaminess in this book like the others in the series.
I absolutely loved it!
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review,in the Bound and Determined erotica series
This is a short novella, loosely based on the Christmas story, I know that seems counterintuitive to this story since it's in the BDSM genre, but it's done tastefully and with style, Kent is able to create characters with a lot of depth and warmth so that I'm always drawn into the scenes despite myself, The sexy scenes are way hot, and the additional BDSM elements are wellthoughtout and very mild, adding just a bit of excitement to the assignations.
Ruby's is a safe and comfortable place, much more than just a whorehouse, but also a home and a place where friendships are developed, I like this series very much and will certainly continue with it,
"A Very Ruby Christmas" , is a wonderfull addition to Ms Kent's Bound And Determined series, she finally gives us more of our very different Madame Ruby's and her hunky Captain Derek's story.
Ruby has been awaiting the return of her Captain, her fiancé back to England from the colonies and beginning her preparations to sell the brothel and marry Derek to become just a Captains wife but is she ready to let her independence go.
are the Lords and the Ladies she helped to join together in wedded bliss ready to see their freind move on While awaiting his return , those very freinds will try and help her sell the brothel to someone she trusts but that is becoming more and more difficult because Ruby can not find the person that will care for her girls, health and welfare as she does.
Amongst her indecision over the brothel another issue shows up at her door, the half sister she has never met, her father the Dukes legitimate child running from the Duke and his demands and very pregnant.
Her half sister arrives, very determined not to give up the name of the child'sies father, nor the child, but how to secure a future away from the ton without the means to support herself
Only adding to Ruby's hesitation to leave behind her life as the owner of a brothel and Derek's arrival back may release her of her concern of his safe travel, but her concern as to wether he will wait for her to make her decision on a predecessor causes more angst for Ruby.
Arc Graciuosly provided in exchange for an honest review,
Everything Lavinia Kent writes is gold, From her characters to her story, it is easy to read the love and work she puts into every word, I am enamored with her complex characters who stories grab you from the very beginning and keep you hooked until the end, She has the ability to make her erotic scenes both intimate and tantalizing,
I have been waiting for Rubys story for a while now, As one of my favorite secondary characters, I was interested in story and HEA, Kent did not disappoint. A Very Ruby Christmas was everything I wanted and more, everything I didnt know I was asking for, I couldnt be happier with the story and how it ended,
Well this was a very unusual read incorporating many of the main characters from the other books to this series, It was done in a manner that to me seemed like there were lots of little stories within the main story,
The substories were fully plotted and extremely hot reads, Each character will draw the reader into wanting to know their backstory if they didn't read their book already, I relish the erotica scenes as the author is a master at keeping the reader enthralled in what is happening,
I did not for some reason connect with Ruby or Captain Derek in this book, I tried. I really did. But I couldn't see how Ruby could be so strong as a business women and so wishy washy in a major decision she had to make.
She did redeem herself in my eyes at end of the book and I once again was in love with her character,
Captain Derek is just a man in love who wanted so badly to have his women, I found his character passive and very strong, Yeah I know it doesn't make sense but when you read the book you will understand my statement, These type of men are rare and from my viewpoint hard to write but the author did a fine job with him,
Though I felt it dragged in some ways this was still a very good read and I recommend you read this book and see if you agree with my thoughts on Captain Derek and how Ruby redeemed herself in my eyes.
I give itSTARS,

This review is based on the ARC that I received from the author and/or publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
This was definitely not a standalone, However, if the author can pack that much of a punch in to such a little package then we all need to plan on reading the entire series.
A Very Ruby Christmas is not a standalone and is part of Lavinia Kent's delightful and erotic Bound and Determined Series, This novella is also a fitting ending to one of my favorite series, It's a sweet, erotic and happy goodbye for our cast of characters and is a welcome ending for a great series,
Ruby aka Emma is finally to wed Derek and get her own happily ever after after assisting a lot of couples with their own.
But she has to decide what to do about Madame Rouge's, the brothel that has been her salvation when she herself was in need of help.
Selling to the highest bidder doesn't feel right neither does it feel proper to sell to the noble men who have become good friends, But Derek has given her more than enough time to settle her estate and she does feel its the right time but the right person hasn't come along.
As each of the couples she has matched return to Madame Rouge to reenact how they each met and fell in love in the most erotic encounter, Emma herself gets the answer she has wished for in the most unexpected person.
A Very Ruby Christmas is good bye for our delightful Mdm Rouge, and its quite bittersweet that fans would not be getting anymore matches from her deft and crafty ideas.
But as the last page is turned , a new chapter in a new series might be afoot!
ARC provided thru NetGalley I have not read the earlier books in this series but despite being lost once in awhile, I still thoroughly enjoyed this holiday read.
I will, however, add these earlier books to my wishlist as Kent managed to pack a whale of a story in less thanpages, Wow, it seemed much longer
in a good way while I was reading it, Can't wait to pile up with a full length novel of hers,
I love when characters can rise above their past and go on to celebrate their own HEA, Ruby's occupation is not one that is often addressed in a Regency and I really enjoyed seeing this loving
character reach out to her halfsister and possibly endangering her future in order to help someone else.
I would like to thank Lavinia Kent, Loveswept, and Penguin Random House for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Madam Rouge aka Ruby aka Emma Scanton finds herself with a dilemma, Shes had plans to sell her pleasure house for months now, but its not as easy as shed thought, She doesnt trust anyone to run it as it should be run, And now the man she loves, the man who wants to take her away to start a life together, is back, waiting for her to get her affairs sorted.
Complicating the matter is the sudden appearance of hervery pregnanthalf sister, How does Ruby make the best decision for everyone
I did not enjoy this book, I was so confused. This book was a continuation of Rubys overall tale, which has been slowly told over the course of the Bound and Determined series, primarily in Revealing Ruby and Ravishing Ruby.
As far as I can tell, because Ive only read A Very Ruby Christmas VRC, each book in this series is like an episode of a TV showsmaller segments of a bigger storywhich, in theory, sounds like a reasonable method of storytellingbut not in this case.
This is a mess.
Allow me to briefly outline the series, because unfortunately, you may need me to, I wish Id known this in advanceId have saved myself the headachebut as of/neither Amazon nor Fantastic Fiction was clear, and Kents website wasnt up to date, so this is my guestimation.
Also, without knowing word count, Im judging novel or novella by page countbut as the series goes on, the harder it is to tell whats supposed to be considered a fulllength novel and whats a novellawhich is why I have a by,, and.

A Very Ruby Christmas Ruby and Dereks HEApgs
FYI, Bound by Bliss and Sarahs Surrender are irrelevant to VRC, as far as I can tell, but the others are involved.
Note I didnt dislike the writing style, more the confounding storytelling, Adding to my complaint that this is nowhere near a standalone bookand yes, obviously its a series, but an author worth her salt would make each part an independent story, which this is notare the two chapters told from Angela and Louisas point of view.
Two completely unnecessary, irrelevant, time and wordwasting chapters, Long, long chapters full of nothing but kinky sex, Or at least, I assume soI got halfway through Angelas chapter and thought, “This cannot be just sex between two characters who have nothing to do with the central conflict.
” But it seemed to be, so I skipped them, and I dont think I missed anything important, Perhaps Id feel differently if Id read the stories of Angela and Colten and Louisa and Swanton, but I havent, and since they probably got their HEAs in their own books, I could care less about their sexcapades.
Theyre Rubys friends, I get that, thats fine, but I believe this was Ruby and Dereks story, so those chapters had no place here, in my opinion.
I liked Ruby and Derek as characters, I didnt particularly connect to either of them, but I cared about them enough to want to see them happily sail off into the sunset.
They both seemed like good people and didnt do anything irrationally stupid, I could relate to Dereks struggle to maintain hope and patience with his sortoffiancee, and Rubys position between a rock and a hard place, just trying to do whats right.
The plot was, . lacking. It revolved around Rubys indecision regarding what to do with the brothel and everything branched off of thatJasmines appearance and what to do with her, Dereks return and plans for the future, Thortons troublemaking.
It was not enough conflict to sustain even a long novella, By the end it had been drawn out and I was frustrated, Dont misunderstandit was certainly an interesting conflict, but it ran its course and then some,
Loose ends include the reasons for Thortons change in attitude and Jasmines baby daddy, whose identity is likely being saved for a future installment.
Also, Rubys grandfather was mentioned several times but never appeared, but I understand he might have shown up in one of Rubys previous books,
There were things to like about this book, such as the writing style and characters, but for me those positives were largely overshadowed by the strange way the story was told and the fact that there wasnt much going on.
I was disappointed to learn that I wasnt going to experience the whole of Ruby and Dereks story, Although, I have to admit, even if Id loved them enough to want to purchase the previous installments to read their introduction, I dont think I would, because Ruby mentioned in VRC that shed first met Derek while he was fucking one of her girls.
Justno, thank you.

keeneyeediting. com "A Very Ruby Christmas" by Lavinia Kent, This story follows Ruby's decision to sell her business, She is anxious to begin her life with Derek, I liked Ruby she's is amazingly understanding and compassionate, Derek is sweet and patient with her more so than I would have been I think! I found myself getting a bit frustrated with her delaying the sale.
However, it was also completely understandable if you got what Ruby is all about, This is a really sexy story which encompasses some steamy "scenes" throughout, Not having read the previous books in the series which I would recommend as I did feel a bit lost at times, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of eroticism throughout.
Ruby and Derek are a special couple and I was cheering and rooting for them to start their HEA sooner rather than later, Despite feeling a bit clueless at times, for not having read the previous tales, I still was able to follow along and grew to like and adore the characters both main and secondary.
I have already downloaded the previous books and cannot wait to start them, received copy from NetGalley for honest review,
