THE SNOWFLAKE is a beautiful story about hope, finding your place, and coming together, A little snowflake is released from a cloud and floating on the wind she is not sure where she is going and wants to stay with the cloud, but it encourages her that she will find her place.
She travels on and on, Meanwhile, a little girl named Noelle is traveling home with her Pappie, and her path intersects with that of the little snowflake.
She wishes for a fancy tree like in the store window, though it is not possible, and instead finds a little branch that she decorates.
She leaves it outside her window, hoping snow will fall and cover it, When she awakes the next morning, she finds one snowflake on the top the little snowflake has found her perfect place!
What I loved: This is a sweet and lovely read that is perfect around the holidays.
The themes of finding your way, making the best of what you have, and hope resonate throughout this beautiful story.
The writing is soft and travels between Noelle and the snowflake with powerful results, The illustrations are just perfect, in Davies's usual style, with the right amount of details and plenty of visual interest to capture young imaginations.
This is a sweeping and gorgeous story, perfect for a fall or winter read, that is sure to captivate and warm the heart.
What left me wanting more: As a small point, some of the text on the snowstorm pages is really hard to read, as it is black font over a medium/darkish blue.
This is particularly challenging in lowlight such as bedtime or evening, Luckily, most pages are easy to read with the clear font over light or white color backgrounds,
Final verdict: A lovely story of hope and finding your place, THE SNOWFLAKE is a beautiful read that will appeal to picture book lovers of all ages.
Highly recommend as fall or winter pick,
Please note that I received a review copy, All opinions are my own, This is such a beautiful book all about Christmas, family and the belief that things will work out exactly
how they are meant to be.
A must read. A very adorable and sweet book about a snowflake and girl and it brought me straight into the holiday spirits.
I read this beautiful book in Dutch but decided to write this review in English,
I just adore Benji Davies books, he really has a way with words but also definitely with art.
I get most of the books because of the amazing art, yes, I confess! The stories are often great as well, really, but the art is just so outstanding and gorgeous.
And it is the same in this one, I enjoyed the story featuring two characters, a little snowflake who wants to land in the right spot and dreams of being a star on top of a Christmas tree, and a little girl who is living with her mom and grandpa and wants to have a wonderful Christmas.
I loved seeing the snowflake not wanting to land, not just on anything at least, and I could fully understand that, because everyone knows what happens to snowflakes when they land.
At least in my country it doesnt generally stay in a big fluffy blanket of cold, It just smushes up. I was just rooting for this little snowflake to find her home, at least for a while, I liked how the little girl made her own little tree, as if she knew that there would be something special happening.
But the art, WOW. That was just stunning and I took my time soaking up all the details, It really gave me those holiday vibes that I was hoping to find,
The ending was great, I loved seeing both the girl and the snowflake be happy and I had a laugh at the dogs reaction.
All in all, a snowy and holiday spirit filled book that I would recommend,
first posted at sitelink com/ Initially I thought this would be a book about Winter, Rather than being about a season ultimately it turns out to be yet another book about Christmas, The focus begins with a snowflake falling from a cloud and its journey down to earth, Aptly named Noelle, a little girl and her grandfather, Pappie, are taking a walk, She wishes for snow. as well as a Christmas tree, Just before arriving home, Noelle finds a branch of an evergreen tree, She takes it home and sets about to decorate it, in spite of its small size, She sets the tree outside on a window sill and hopes for a star to grace its top, During the night, the little snowflake alights on the top of Noelle's tree which she is delighted to see in the morning.
Children's Picture Book
Format: Hardcover
I read this book at storytime at work a while ago.
Honestly, I'm completely unimpressed by this book, It was slow and not engaging to the kids, Hard as I try, the snowflake was often hard to point out because it blended into the background, The best part is when the snowflake lands on the little girls' Christmas tree,
A wintery tale about a young girl wishing for a perfect Christmas tree, and a young snowflake wishing for the perfect place to land.
High, high up in the clouds, a tiny snowflake is made, Perfectly fluffy and white, she tumbles and bounces on the clouds, But then, to her dismay, she begins to fall,
The Snowflake tells the separate stories of one snowflake and one little girlboth longing for their own special place in the worldthat spin together into a magical ending.
The snowflake and Noelle discover that wherever we go, and however we fall, in the end, we all find a way to shine.

Come iniziare ad amare la lettura, se non con un libricino illustrato ed a tema natalizio Μια τρυφερή, απαλή και λαμπερή ιστορία We are in the midst of a huge pause.
The winter solsticewas observed on December,, Today, December, marks five more days before the new calendar year begins, Some seasonal holidays have been celebrated preparations for others are still being made, It is as if everything and everyone are holding their collective breaths, waiting for what comes next,
Waiting is an important part of life, It is not an easy skill to learn, In The Snowflake Harper HarperCollinsPublishers, September, written and illustrated by Benji Davies, two individuals learn the rewards far outweigh the act of waiting.
