Dive Into How To Haunt Your House Fashioned By Shawn Mitchell Compiled As Brochure
were some really interesting techniques in this book and I'd consider it highly inspiring, however for the list price this should have been a hardcover and about double the size.
I checked all three books out from the library and loved them so much that I kept renewing them and finding ways to not return them, I know, I know BAD librarian! BAD!
I finally bought them myself, All three. At full price. That is how badly I wanted to have these books in my home,
Now that I do, we've decided we're going to start scavenging for items throughout the year and build, build, build until we've MADE ALL THE THINGS! awesome, scary ideas for Halloween! If you are into Halloween and haunting your front yard or house this book should be on your bookshelve.
Some good ideas that I'll use this fall, Creepy fantastic
I
can't wait to start creating these wonderfully eerie decorations using the easy to follow step by step process described here.
Let's get one thing absolutely right: this is a beautiful book, Every single page is jammed with photos of the authors' excellent home haunt projects and constructions, often illustrating pieces in various stages of completion, Even if you don't have any interest in actually building haunt props of your own, you'll enjoy flipping through and looking at all of these amazing pieces.
But I assume most people interested in this book ARE interested in building their own props, Whether a firsttime haunter or a professional just looking for some new techniques and ideas, there's likely something in here for you, In fact, though the book does cover some fairly classical projectstombstones, scarecrows, etc, it also has some original ideas you might not have thought of otherwise, as well as interesting approaches to each of the ideas,
The real question, though, is whether the book is worth its price, Coming in at nearlyfor a paperback of less thanpages, that's a tall order, Mostly, I think the book succeeds, It gave me enough pleasure reading and, more importantly, enough ideas for my own haunting, that I feel justified in making the investment, However, those who've never built anything before should be warned that, though this book does explain how to build the props, the instructions are fairly sparse, Rather than stepbystep plans that hold your hand through the entire process, the authors sketch the process, requiring you to have enough knowhow to put it all together, but also allowing you the opportunity to substitute plenty of your own ideas along the way.
A few basic techniques are covered in greater detail and then applied in a project or two by way of example,
Is the book worth its price, then Well, I'll be the first to say I think it IS overpriced, but I'll also say that the information is of sufficient quality and the presentation sufficiently elegant that I was happy to pay it anyway.
Personally, I'm already starting to sketch out some plans, not for the specific projects in the book, but for the ideas of my own the book has inspired.
I'm also looking forward to diving immediately into the second volume of this series, If you are looking to raise the coffin lid a little higher this Halloween, try out some of these spooky projects and tips, From simple to advanced there is something here to make your next Halloween party or home haunt even spookier, Halloween is for grownups too the projects in this book are not intended for children, but for the creative, adults who want to handcraft their own Halloween home haunt and graveyard fun.
