Delve Into The Hunted Of 2060 (Shifter Evolutions #5) Constructed By Ami Blackwelder Accessible As Paperbound
summary of The Hunted ofbegins with: "Set in Alaska in, when April enters her Sophomore year at University, . . "I was immediately drawn into the world and setting that the author so deftly and effortlessly creates, in this futuristic novel, I really liked the part about the electrical newspapers "beaming: in and out against the shop walls" displaying current events, ha ha!
In the chapter entitled 'Siblings' Page, there's one line that reads, "complex themes are: interwoven into relatable story lines"the main character is referring to the subject of English Literature, throughout the paragraph where this sentence appears.
I think the universal themes mentioned in this section echo the main themes of Ms, Blackwelder's novelkinda like how the pastor's sermon in MobyDick reflects some of the main themes in the entire book, This is how it should be done, as compared to certain blockbuster mainstream books, where names of classic books seemed to be dropped for no reason other than to create an added sense of melodrama and/or to make the main character seem smart'.
I thought this was a wellwritten piece of fiction which veered to "realistic fiction" very often, with wellcrafted characters and a strongly developed settingby an experienced, wellread author.
The Hunted ofis a fast paced novel by Ami Blackwelder set in Alaska, The future comes to life as hybrid humans struggle to survive in a world that does not understand them, The foundation that Ami has created is a fresh look at the future that sweeps the reader to an unexpected climax, As an avid reader I found myself struggling with the first portion of Ami's work, and feel that this is not the high caliber of writing that Ami has produced in the past.
But if youre looking for a quick evening read and characters that you can connect too, The Hunted ofis for you,
Shawn Weaver, Author Sense of Honor
The Hunted of, is an amazing read, written by Ami Blackwelder, The story line itself and the fact that it might possibly be our future keeps the readers attention, Taking place in Alaska inafter an "alien" invasion it is the story of April and her progress in finding her identity, Plus takes the romance between three characters, to another level by instating the slight fact of prejudices that are placed towards different people in society, Together with April, Robert, Arken, Arquet, and more, the story of The Hunted oftakes place,
April is in her sophomore year of university in Alaska, and unknown to her is her real identity, Being adopted April, has no clue she has a twin sister Arquet or that her father was actually a shifter, But when April turnseverything changes and she herself feels the shift in to a wolf take place, And as she feels the change, her romance with her best friend Robert begin to take place, But the main question through out the book is will Robert accept April, and her friends Or will he give up the hybrids to the milita
As a heroin April, is a great character, and Ami's characters are greatly creative and each have their own personality.
Through out the book you can always identify a character with their clan because of their nature and their looks, But unlike other books I've read, The Hunted ofhas a lot of characters, but their organized and easily known by their names and clans, In the end The Hunted has a great plot and characters making it simply easy to read, I was fortunate enough to get an email copy of this book from the author, I got about/into the book, and from what I read, it is really good,
I loved how the first chapters kept the reader in suspense, like a "what will happen next" feeling, I also liked that the author knew exactly when to stop doing that, so as not to be annoying,
The characters were entertaining and deep, I enjoyed the writing. However, the reason i decided to stop reading this book and not finish it, is because it is an ebook, I tried it and I felt this reading style doesn't' work for me,
Since the book wasn't sitting on my nightstand, I found I forgot about it,
When this book is out and I can get a tangible copy, I would love to finish the book and find out what happened to all the characters.
“I didnt take my sky car, I wouldnt have been able to navigate it with paws, ” Love that line!
This book will appeal to YA readership, but with the current market of Twilight making supernatural/paranormal books popular this book will appeal to adults as well.
Its told through the eyes of sophomoreyear old Amy Blackwelder in futuristin Alaska, At the opening Amy is experiencing her metamorphosis through chills, pain and images she cant explain, Her boyfriend Robert is worried, but Amy knows she isnt ill, its something else, something bad,
She discovers she has a twin, and the twin explains to her what is happening to her body, The one thing I couldnt understand is why Amy takes the explanations so calmly, Apart from that this was such an easy read it flowed from chapter to chapter and kept me entertained all the way through, Amy was an interesting character and you could feel her indecision as she struggled between her two worlds: human and alien, Robert kept her human, but Arken pulled at her true alien/wolf side, It was an amazing read,
WOW, crazy good plot I had a few issues but, all in all a good solid read! A Young Adult novel set in a future that includes shapeshifters, hybrids, werewolves and a scary security force that persecutes anyone who isn't 'normal'.
Even so, the main characters have some of the same preoccupations that they have today family relationships and trust, loyalty, identification with certain groups or clans, and the attractions of the bad boy for a young woman even when she already has a lovely boyfriend.
The author includes some neat illustrations to enliven the text, including several pages of extraordinary colour portraits of the main characters at the back of the book.
This was a fantastic title with great characters and scenes that played out in your mindseye very well, I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys fantasy/horror/scifi/drama type books, With the holidays approaching this would make a great gift, This is my updated and amended review, I had a prepublished edition and the editing has since been fixed, according to the author,
My only unclear point is the Colonial Marnis this a typo If he is a "colonel," it is his rank, I will use the word "Colonial" since that is how he is addressed in my edition of this book,

Some spoilers,
The back of the book:
Set in Alaska,Lovers.Species.Way to Survive.
Set in Alaska in, when April enters her Sophomore year at University, she thought Robert might be the love of her life, but as she discovers, she is hiding something inside her, something the rest of the world believes to have died out.
She struggles with who she was and who she is becoming as she learns of a family she never knew existed and of enemies she will have to outrun, outfight or outwit to survive.
As April embraces her new identity, will she have to leave the life she loves behind
In America, in the near future, a race of aliens trying to survive the death of their planet settles on earth.
They are a peaceful race that has the ability to shift their DNA, The Rogue Militia fears and hates them, so the propaganda they put out in the American public is all negative, Their solution is to hunt down the aliens and exterminate the entire race, But of course a few survive here and there, and they mate with humans, The offspring are hybrids, and are able to take the shape of not any animal they touch as their parents could, but rather the main shape their parent took becomes their shape.
April is a hybrid. Only she doesn't know it yet,
We meet April as she is just beginning her transition at, She has a steady human boyfriend named Robert, and as she changes to the beast for the first time, she meets Arken, He is a hybrid wolf as well, He is her wolf's mate, and Robert is her human
half's mate, She wants Arken, but loves Robert, This is where thelovers comes in, but I will spoil the fact that there is no sex, zero sex, not even the mention of sex appropriate since it's YA, but somehow at the end, April , and Robert is thrilled.
Even though it's not his, . . yes, there apparently was a lot of sex, but it was never even hinted at, I don't mind the sex being off screen, but it should be something along the lines of "He pulled me into his arms and kissed me, " Not "He pecked my cheek and held me close, " That was it. The next morning they went to class, I thought to myself that I was glad theyr olds weren't having sex! But they were,
Again, the whole "three lovers" is never, ever, EVER clarified, It is more lovetriangle than lovers, She never even has sex with Arken, but they share one passionate kiss and this is apparently where April gets That made me really angry because there is never any relationship or even the semblance of a relationship, We know he wants her and his pheromones make her crazy, That is all. Same with Robert never, not once is there a passionate kiss between them and we are supposed to get that they are sleeping together! WTF! at the end, I was so shocked!
Now let me rephrase I AM NOT UPSET THERE WERE NO SEX SCENES.
I am upset and frustrated because there was enough of a relationship between both men that a pregnancy resulted, The reader should know if our heroes and heroine are sleeping together,
Moving on, the plot was good, Really had a lot of potential, In fact, I don't like sci fi and I enjoyed the concept and the idea of this story,
At age, hybrids of a race that landed on Earth about a few decades before this book takes place, begin their metamorphoses and change into a certain type of animal.
April, our heroine, is transitioning into a wolf, She meets up with her twin sister from whom she was separated at birth Arquet, Their alien ancestors were hunted to extinction not long ago, and now the hybrid species is just trying to evade the Rogue Militia, I feel the book has a good dichotomy of April trying to reconcile both her human half, and her shifter half, The emotional and physical turmoil is there, her wanting to keep Robert in her life to anchor her, In fact I felt awful when she was captured by the Rogue Militiabut things happened too quickly, and too many shifters were lost to humans for it to be believable.
The hybrids were stronger and stealthier than the humans, therefore the high number of losses on their side just wasn't believable,
SPOILER ALERT
I think the ending was pretty good, such a fantastic surprise to have "Colonial" Marn see the light, and help them turn around public opinion.
And what happens with Bruce He was a super hot, alpha male human who worked for the Rogue Militia, but helped them defeat the enemy, And April was attracted to him, . . but at the end, he went off to his bachelor pad, So, maybe he is in the next book
My end result of this book, is that it has a great story arc, very new take on shifters and young adult lit.
But I think certain parts of the story fell short, and I had a hard time getting through it with all the typos and parts of the story that felt very awkward.
