good little book if you're just looking for a quick read to pass time, It's not very impressive and the character's use of the samewords gets annoying as anything, But it doesn't take long to read and if you're looking for some lighthearted silliness, this is it.
Paris doesnt turn out quite as Gemma expected, Shes barely arrived before she realises shes being followed, and she spends her first weekend fighting dirty instead of enjoying the delights of the city with Edward.
But its not what it seems she finds herself recruited by secret service agent Joe to investigate a plot that may result in the death of a pair of royal visitors.
Of course, she cant tell anyone, so her relationship with Edward becomes rather strained, especially when actress Monique comes along and seems to be a much more suitable match for him.
Things get even more tangled when she meets Blade hes French and gorgeous and shes besotted but Joe refuses to believe he can be trusted and threatens to spoil everything.
As Gemma gets to know her new colleagues in the restaurant she realises they are not all they seem, but she doesnt think any of them could want to kill an heir to the British throne.
And they arent the only people who are being misread so, although the bad guys get their comeuppance and everything works out for the good guys, that doesnt mean that what Gemma or you thinks is going on is the whole story.

This is the second book in the Doubting Abbey series and, although I realised that pretty soon after starting, not having read the first wasnt a problem.
The earlier events explain the relationships between some of the characters and why Joe asks Gemma to become an unofficial MIagent, but enough backstory is given for it to make sense although the sitelinkfirst book sounds like it might be rather fun too.

This one is fun because of the scrapes into which Gemma gets herself, the interesting people who work in the restaurant and the sheer preposterousness of the plot.
If you like your romance served up with a dose of realism, this is not the book for you because youll find yourself saying Yea, right! Like that would really happen! every few chapters.
But if youre willing to accept the James Bond hokum, days and times off that would make anyone in the catering business sigh with longing and so on, then the story works like the Big Thunder Mountain ride at Disneyland Paris lots of ups and downs, lots of twists and turns.

While I was willing to suspend disbelief in order to accept the plot, there were little things that niggled because they didnt ring true or because they made me stop reading for a moment to question or check something.
Most were not important and some were undoubtedly the result of me being overly picky, which is why I dont want to spoil your enjoyment by giving examples but there were rather too many of them for me to get completely lost in the story.
That was a real shame because there is a lot to like about this book, not least the descriptions of Paris.

Its something of a cliché to say that the setting is a character in its own right albeit a cliché that doesnt usually get used when talking about holiday reads but the byways of Montmartre and side streets off Blvd St Michel get as much attention as the tourist attractions and all are part of the story.
Gemmas voice is strong too, She is consistently optimistic and aware of her failings without ever seeming arrogant or overly selfpitying, and that comes across in her narrative.
You therefore get a good sense of what she is like as a person and so are able to understand some of her decisions that seem odd to other characters.

Overall then, a lovely bit of summer fun just send your inner pedant away with a large bottle of absinthe first.

ed by Catherine sitelinkThis review was originally posted on Girls Love To Read When Gemma and Edward arrive in Paris they think this is going to be the most romantic month of their lives.
Edward has asked Gemma to marry him, but she isn't ready yet, Hopefully being in Paris will change her mind, Gemma is there to work, she's helping in the kitchen of a restaurant to improve her cooking skills.
Besides writing about an important event and his experiences in Paris Edward is also working there, He's the perfect host and the customers love him, Working together and exploring the romantic capital of France in their free time sounds like a perfect plan, but in reality things aren't too great between Gemma and Edward.
There's mystery man Joe, who needs Gemma's help, And the cunning and gorgeous actress Monique is trying to come between the famous British couple, Even though she and Edward have got some major problems Gemma is making the best of her stay.
She loves the kitchen, enjoys Disneyland and shopping and she quickly finds new friends, One of them is a handsome rock star named Blade, Could Gemma still be happy even though her life has changed so much in the city of love
I already loved Doubting Abbey and I enjoyed From Paris With Love even more! Gemma is such a warm and tough main character.
She can do everything when she puts her mind to it, She has her own plans and they always work out one way or another, She manages to save herself in every situation, no matter how awkward or dangerous they are, I loved the theme of From Paris With Love, it's a little bit mysterious, but with a lot of humor and romance.
While reading this book there was a smile plastered on my face the entire time, I liked it a lot, And of course it also helps that this novel is set in Paris, I liked reading about my favorite city and wanted to go there immediately

to make some new memories.
I loved Edward and Gemma's very different views of the same city, There's also a new character in this book, the gorgeous and sweet Blade, Who doesn't want to read about a cute rock star who also has manners From Paris With Love is such a perfect and romantic summer read! We are back with the fabulous Gemma and her mad life.
Gemma and her fiance Edward are Paris bound for a month to her their careers, Gemma gets to work in a fabulous cafe in the heart of Paris and learn form one of the best chef's to help her catering course.
But as always for Gemma, nothing ever quite goes as planned,

This book follows on from Doubting Abby, in which Gemma helped win a reality show and won Edwards heart along the way.
The characters are just as lovable as in the first book even though only Gemma and Edward really carry on forward.
The story takes the reader on delightful tours of Paris and has us laughing out loud at all the misshapes Gemma gets into.

However i am slightly disappointed as this is not such a good stand alone book due to references of Applebridge Hall and the cooking school.
Having said this, it is worth getting both books as this is such a funny read and the characters are so lovable and i don't think this is the last we will see of Gemma.
I'd rate it.really. Very easy read, fun story, with a few twists, Will definitely read more of her books, Gemma and Edward are back for their next hilarious adventure, Samantha Tonge pulled out all the stops for this one and it is larger than life, From “Paris with love” is the follow up book to “Doubting Abbey” where we first met Edward, as Gemma impersonated his Cousin Abbey to win a reality television show and feel in love.
From “ Paris with love” can be read as a stand alone novel but I recommend you read “Doubting Abbey” because it was so much fun.
Samantha Tonge brings Paris alive with all sights and sounds of the metro and Eiffel tower but adds her own unique je ne sais quoi to make the city truly come alive.
I have to admit I now have a literary crush on Edward, He is such an amazing character who has really come into his own and proved himself to be a modern day Mr.
Darcy. Gemma is just as bonkers as ever, Within minutes of getting off the plane from England, Gemma is embroiled in a intrigue of Emma Peel proportions.
“From Paris with love” is a tour de force of a novel that with compel you to read from cover to cover in one sitting.
I can not wait for Gemma and Edwards next adventure, I highly recommend. Be warned, this book is so funny you will laugh out loud and chances of falling in love with Edward are very high.
